Ebony Tay

Ebony Tay is an award-winning film composer, producer, and musician. She is a self-taught singer and songwriter who received a private sector scholarship to attend The Juilliard School to study composition and music theory. She has since composed several film scores and recorded her own music. Tay also experiments with technology to create innovative sound effects. For her first feature film, Hate Crime, Tay produced a hit remix that made the top 20 of Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart.

Music icon Les Garland (MTV, VH1, The Box) discovered Tay. She was signed by Chris Blackwell of Island Records and Palm Pictures, joining Bob Marley and U2 on the famed label’s impressive lineup. A&R mogul Don Rubin (Tracy Chapman, Marcy Playground) also signed Tay to Sony/Edel records. She worked with producers for Beck, Perry Ferrell, the Rolling Stones, and Nine Inch Nails.

She has toured extensively through Europe. Tay has opened for Hall & Oates, Mobb Deep, India Arie, Brian McKnight, and Gypsy Kings.

Inspired by science and technology and fascinated with the future, Tay crafts soundtracks for new storytelling platforms. These include web series, virtual reality, and online streaming venues.
